NEW YORK - A woman who claims her mouth was punctured by a hypodermic needle hidden in a doughnut has sued Dunkin' Donuts for $20 million.
Janine Zuckermandel, 34, of New Hyde Park claims the incident occurred Aug. 31, 2001, after she bought a Boston creme doughnut from a Dunkin' Donuts shop near her home.
The suit, filed in Manhattan's State Supreme Court on Tuesday, claims Zuckermandel suffered "severe nervous shock and mental anguish, great physical and psychological pain."
Catherine Zuffante, a spokeswoman for Dunkin' Donuts, based in Randolph said the company had not been served with the lawsuit and could not comment.
