American Association of Diabetes Educators
The American Association of Diabetes Educators is a multidisciplinary organization representing over 10,000 healthcare professionals who provide diabetes education and care. Membership is open to all health professionals with an interest in helping people live full and productive lives.
The AADE is dedicated to advancing the role of the diabetes educator and improving the quality of diabetes education and care.
American Diabetes Association
American Diabetes Association is the nation’s leading nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research, information and advocacy. Founded in 1940, the ADA conducts programs in all 50 states and the District of Colombia, reaching more than 800 communities.
To date the ADA has invested over $175 million in diabetes research throughout the nation.
The mission of the organization is to prevent and cure diabetes, and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
The American Diabetes Association funds research, publishes findings, provides information and other services to people with diabetes, their families, health care professionals and the public and advocates for scientific research and for the rights of people with diabetes.
American Medical Association
The American Medical Association was founded in 1847. Their work includes the development and promotion of standards in medical practice, research, and education; strong advocacy agenda on behalf of patients and physicians; and the commitment to providing timely information on matters important to the health care of America.
The AMA publishes the Journal of the American Medical Association and nine specialty journals that cover topics from pediatrics to general surgery.
The AMA speaks out on issues important to patients and the nation’s health. AMA policy is decided through its democratic policy-making process, in the AMA House of Delegates, which meets twice a year. The House is comprised of physician delegates representing every state; nearly 100 national medical specialty societies; federal service agencies, including the Surgeon General of the United States; and six sections representing hospital and clinical staffs, resident physicians, medical students, young physicians, medical schools, and international medical graduates.
American Pharmacists Association
American Pharmacists Association - the national professional society of pharmacists, founded in 1852 – is the first established and largest professional association of pharmacists in the United States.
The APhA represents the third largest health profession, composed of more than 190,000 pharmacy practitioners, scientists, and pharmacy students.
The APhA has been a leader in the professional and scientific advancement of pharmacy, and in safeguarding the well being of the individual patient.
The APhA works for members and the public through public education campaigns, production of peer-reviewed journals, publications, reference books, education programs, and a government affairs program that lobbies Congress .
Environmental Industry Associations
Environmental Industry Associations represents companies and individuals who manage solid and medical wastes; manufacture and distribute waste equipment; and provide environmental management, consulting and pollution-prevention-related services. Services are provided to members through the National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA) and the Waste Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC).
Membership in the National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA) is open to for-profit companies that provide solid and medical waste collection, recycling, and disposal services, and companies that provide professional and consulting services to the waste industry.
Membership in the Waste Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC) is open to manufacturers, distributors, equipment leasing companies, consultants, and technology companies dedicated to developing and supplying equipment, technology and systems for the efficient, safe, and environmentally responsible management of waste and recyclable materials.
National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors
The National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors represents the nation’s chief state health agency staff who have programmatic responsibility for administering AIDS health care, prevention education and supportive service programs funded by state and federal governments.
State AIDS directors in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the U.S. Pacific Islands are represented.
Programs administered by NASTAD members serve every population affected by and infected with HIV.
NASTAD has considerable expertise in identifying community needs and responding to the challenges of the HIV epidemic worldwide. It provides national leadership to its members and the communities they serve.
National Association of County and City Health Officials
The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) is the national nonprofit organization representing local public health agencies (including city, county, metro, district, and Tribal agencies).
Today, active membership in NACCHO continues to grow with 1,100 local public health agencies, serving 75 percent of the U.S. population. NACCHO provides education, information, research, and technical assistance to local health departments and facilitates partnerships among local, state, and federal agencies in order to promote and strengthen public health.
National Association of Chain Drug Stores
The chief purpose of National Association of Chain Drug Stores is to represent the views and policy positions of member chain drug companies. This purpose is accomplished through the programs and services provided by the association which emphasize:
Involvement in pharmacy and health-related issues.
Promoting the value and role of community retail pharmacy in the health care system.
Ensuring the community retail pharmacy perspective is communicated to and understood by legislators and policy-makers.
Providing appropriate forums for retailers to interact with their suppliers and business partners.
Creating a favorable political and business climate in which NACDS member companies can carry out their business plans.
Developing and promoting policies and programs aimed at improving merchandise distribution and retail operations efficiency.
Ensuring effective channels of communication between members and the association.
NACDS provides a wide range of services to meet the needs of the chain drug industry in accordance with these goals and objectives.
National Association of Home Care
National Association of Home Care is the nation's largest trade association representing the interests and concerns of home care agencies, hospices, home care aide organizations, and medical equipment suppliers. Simply put, NAHC is the one organization dedicated to making home care and hospice providers lives easier.
NAHC believes that Americans should receive health care and social services in their own homes, so far as this is possible. Senior citizens and other vulnerable groups should be able to live in independence through the assistance of home care services, making institutionalization a last resort.
NAHC seeks to reverse the current bias that places hundreds of thousands, possibly millions, of fragile children and chronically ill seniors in nursing homes or retained in hospitals when they could receive equal or better care at home.
National Recycling Coalition, Inc.
Founded in 1978, the National Recycling Coalition, Inc. (NRC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization representing all the diverse interests committed to the common goal of maximizing recycling to achieve the benefits of resource conservation, solid waste reduction, environmental protection, energy conservation and social and economic development.
Its 4,500 members include recycling and environmental organizations; large and small businesses; federal, state and local governments; and individuals. The Coalition, based in Alexandria, Virginia, just outside of Washington DC, provides technical education, disseminates public information on selected recycling issues, shapes public and private policy on recycling and operates programs that encourage recycling markets and economic development.
The National Recycling Coalition is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and improvement of recycling, and also source reduction, composting, and reuse by providing technical information, education, training, outreach, and advocacy services to its members in order to conserve resources and benefit the environment.
U.S. Conference of Mayors
The U.S. Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. There are 1,183 such cities in the country today. Each city is represented in the Conference by its chief elected official, the mayor.
The primary roles of the Conference of Mayors are to:
Promote the development of effective national urban/suburban policy;
Strengthen federal-city relationships;
Ensure that federal policy meets urban needs;
Provide mayors with leadership and management tools; and
Create a forum in which mayors can share ideas and information.
